Rip the Steep and Deep
The Ripstick 102 W is designed by women for skiers who aggressively push their limits and seek out the toughest lines and deepest pow – all while putting the boys to shame.
As the widest Ripstick in women series, the 102 W is the ultimate ladies freeride ski to use when it gets deep and steep. If you never waste a waist deep day, this is the ski you need to maximize the float and the fun! Have no worries, if you miss the best days of the season, the Ripstick 102 will still be your best friends any other day of the week, smoothly cutting through windblown snow and crud with ease. The skis’ SST sidewalls provide direct power transmission to the ski edges and assure control over the full length of the ski. Elan’s new Amphibio Carbon Line technology elevates the asymmetrical design and tip to tail Tubelight wood core with additional carbon reinforcements for greater edge grip, all while maintaining ease and precision through every turn.

I would take these babies out where I really enjoyed the additional power, they offered on the ski down. I could turn up the dial quite a bit as I laid out each turn and I felt confident to take more aggressive lines than I typically would ski touring on lighter touring skis. The technology upgrades and subtle design refinements have enhanced all the qualities that made the Ripstick 102s already a super fun ski. Now instead of skiing groomers well the 102s rail on groomers and the power offered through the geometry of their asymmetrical Amphibio design is noticeably more thanks to the rigidity offered by the carbon inserts. RATING: 9.5/10
